Congress releases 20-point poll declarations, welfare schemes for all sections
The opposition on Sunday evening released their poll manifesto with 20 significant commitments and assured the voters of the state to restore rules of law, if they voted to power with their alliance partner Left Front.
Addressing a press conference here at Congress Bhavan on Sunday evening, senior leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman accompanied by AICC secretary Ms Szarita Laitphlang released 20-point Congress’s declaration or poll manifesto.
Highlighting the commitments mentioned in their 20-point poll declaration, Sudip said that after formation of Congress and LF government, the law and order situation of the state will be strictly maintained and they will take ‘zero tolerance’ policy for crime against women.
In order to curb the corruption and corrupt practices in government institutions, the ‘Lokayukta’ law will be amended with stringent provisions; free health services will be started in all government hospitals for the poor with expansion of super specialty medical services by boosting medical tourism to develop the state's revenue structure.
He said that by stopping the power stealing and reducing the transmission loss, the Congress will ensure 150 units of electricity free to every family.
Congress through its commitments has also assured Rs.50, 000 cash assistance during the marriage of the daughter of a BPL family, education starting from KG to PG level for all girl child will be free, for higher education and for setting business, the youth credit card will be introduced for Rs. 5 lakh with interest free installment, religious tourism for 60 plus citizens once in a year, paddy procurement price will be hiked from Rs. 2040 to Rs. 2500.
Sudip said that their government will declare war against drug smugglers and drug abuses and 14 essential items will be distributed through PDS.
He also said that they are committed for a permanent solution to all retrenched 10, 323 teachers and all the families of departed teachers will also be brought under the same policy.
The manifesto also assured that two integrated package for socio-economic development of minorities, empowerment of ADC by passing the 125th constitution amendment bill and also special package for socio-economic development of indigenous population, returning of fund to chit fund victim families by selling properties of different chit fund companies, Rs. 500 subsidy for each LPG cylinders to poor families with fixed quota of six cylinders in a years.
Sudip said that Congress has also committed to bring back the old pension scheme and all fixed pay employees will be regularized after their two years of service and Dearness Allowance (DA) twice in a year.
He also appealed to the voters to ensure the victory of all Congress and Left Front candidates in the February 16 assembly election to ensure the defeat of BJP. He said that soon both Congress and the Left Front will announce their joint-declaration and ‘common minimum programme’ for the welfare of the state's people.
While highlighting the recent attacks on opposition and destruction of their poll decorations, Sudip asked where the ‘zero poll violence’ policy of Election Commission and hoped that the Commission will ensure the voting rights of all people.
