Congress to participate counting of votes for both Lok Sabha seats
The counting agents of Tripura Pradesh Congress along with their INDIA Bloc partners will participate in the counting of polled votes for both West Tripura and East Tripura Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking with media persons on Sunday, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said that after elections for both Lok Sabha seats of Tripura on April 19 and April 26 last, the PCC has called its extended meeting to analyze the poll report from its leaders across Tripura.
He said that all the block, district and organizations heads of the party participated in the extended PCC meeting and the party has decided to be present in the counting of votes on June 4th next in all counting centers across the state for both Lok Sabha seats.
Over the question of their demand for re-polls in West Tripura parliamentary constituency and by-poll for 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency, Saha said that the verdict of the people is now kept of EVMs and Congress counting agents with full enthusiasm will participate in the counting process.
He hoped that the INDIA Bloc led by Congress would secure a massive win in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
It may be recalled here that , after completion of polling on April 19 last, which by and large peaceful, barring some stray incidents of forceful obstruction to voters, polling agents were not allowed to enter into the several polling station, the opposition INDIA Bloc demanded countermand of elections to both Lok Sabha and assembly by-poll and arrangement of fresh polls.
But, Congress and its INDIA Bloc partner opposition CPI(M) did not demand a re-poll for East Tripura PC and claimed that the verdict of voters of East Tripura was in favour of their party candidate.
