CPI (M) demanded removal of 3 police officers for release of Sahid Miah murder accused persons
Opposition CPI(M) urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to immediate remove few police officials, who were allegedly responsible for the release of accused person involved in the murder of CPI(M) worker Sahid Miah in Charilam assembly constituency.
CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury in a letter to the CEO, Tripura Kiran Gitte, ECI and DGP alleged that with release of accused persons involved in the murder of Sahid Miah, a nexus between some of the Sepahijala District Police Officials and the BJP leaders has been established and demanded removal of these police officials from their place of posting and also from election duty.
He said that on November30th, 2022, Sahid Mia, one of the CPI(M) activist was beaten to death in heinous manner in broad day light and some others received grievous injury in the attack carried on by miscreants of ruling BJP in presence of the police at Charilam market when they assembled there to join a CPI(M) programme of mass deputation to the BDO, Charilam Block.
There were two FIRs on this incident, one by younger brother of the victim Sahid Miah, another by Bhanulal Saha, MLA who was present at the place of incidents. In both the FIRs there were list of accused stated to have directly involved in murder and attack with lethal weapons, said Chowdhury in his letter.
He said that the police officials namely Addl. S.P. Sepahijala Ranadhir Debbarma, SDPO (Bishalgarh) Rahul Das and OC, Bishalgarh police station Badal Saha in connivance with local BJP leaders including Pratik Koshore Dev Barman, son of Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma intentionally omitted Section 302 (murder charge) in the charge-sheet which was made without any serious investigation. As a result, all the accused in this murder case got bail from the court Monday, none without remaining in custody for a single day. “It is apprehended that, this connivance has been materialized for the purpose of using these elements in any kind of mischievous action in the ongoing election,” said Chowdhury and expressing his concern said that if these police officials remain in the present place of posting and assigned with election duty, free fair and peaceful election is imminent to be marred.
Chowdhury demanded immediately removal of 3 police officials from the present place of posting ,they must not be assigned in any kind of election duty and urgently initiate departmental proceedings against these officials for conniving with political leaders of ruling party for shielding the murder accused.
