CPI (M) slams govt over law and order situation, claimed inactiveness instigates communal violence
Opposition CPI (M) in a scathing attack on Tripura government over alleged deteriorated law and order situation claimed that due to inactiveness of government and police administration, miscreants are committing one after one communal violence and instigating hatred among communities.
CPI (M) state secretary and opposition leader, Jitendra Chaudhury accompanied by senior party leader Narayan Kar and Manik Dey addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Friday evening soon after a daylong state committee meeting, Chaudhury said that the meeting has mainly discuss about the current political scenario in the state and in addition, other issues discussed to chalk out the next party programmes.
While, highlighting the present law and order situation across the state, Chaudhury said that since communal violence in Gandacherra, one after one communal violence including in Panisagar and Pekucherra under North Tripura district, which claimed death of a civilian and government have also suspended internet, prohibitory order imposed, the SP of the district has also been closed, reflect the incompetence by a section of police administration.
He claimed that despite disturbances, the ruling party leaders instigated the violence, resulting in people of the state suffering insecurity.
Chaudhury alleged that during the rule of the BJP government, corruption and nepotism were at their peak and a vast section of youths of the state were suffering from unemployment .
Highlighting his letter to the Governor over an alleged job scam, Chaudhury said has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process at Maharaja Bir Bikram University (MBBU).
Chaudhury in a letter addressed to the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, accused the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Satyadeo Poddar, of violating recruitment norms established by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The opposition leader also raised concerns about the screening process, accusing the Vice-Chancellor of manipulating the selection to favour certain candidates.
He alleged that the state government totally failed to provide relief to vast flood affected people and ruling party leaders are now busy with embezzlement of flood relief funds.
“Though, Chief Minister and DGP himself claimed that there are no issues with present law and order situation, but in reality day by day the crime graph increasing across Tripura, whether it is rape, murder, drug smuggling and crime against women,” said Chaudhury.
Highlighting the murder of a mobile shop owner in Melarmath area in presence of police forces and custodial torture inside Manu Bazar police station and death of a villager reflects the law and order situation of the state, said Chaudhury.
He also said that their state committee had an elaborate discussion and decided to strengthen their movements across the state against failure of the government.
Speaking in the press conference Left Front convener Narayan Kar said that Tripura is now a corridor of human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Former Minister Manik Dey said that Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has decided to hold warning rallies across over 500 districts in the country on November 26, the day farmers had started to move towards the national capital on its ‘Delhi Chalo’ call in 2020. The CPI(M) in Tripura has also decided to join the rallies and will organize similar protest rallies in Tripura also.
