CPI (M) to fight Panchayat elections in adjustment with other INDIA bloc parties, to launch statewide agitation
Opposition CPI (M) will organize statewide mass movements in support of their demands for a conducive atmosphere before ensuing three-tier Panchayat elections along with other demands related to reducing the suffering of common people.
Addressing a press conference at CPI (M) headquarters on Sunday afternoon, leader of opposition (LoP) and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury accompanied by senior party leaders Pabitra Kar and Sudhan Das said that the state secretariat committee of the party on Saturday after meeting has decided to organize statewide movements , starting from Monday (June 24) in support of their demands including a conducive atmosphere across Tripura to ensure free and fair Panchayat elections. The party will continue their agitation till June 30 next in every subdivisions of the state and on June 26, they will organize mass demonstration in Agartala demanding 100 days jobs under MGNREGA, free and fair Panchayat elections etc, said Chaudhury.
Chaudhury claimed that before the announcement of poll schedules, different Block Development Officials (BDOs) are organizing all party meetings, but, unfortunately their party leaders were also attacked and physically thrashed by miscreants owing allegiance with ruling BJP.
“If such a situation continues before announcement of poll schedules, the participation of opposition parties in Panchayat election is quite very difficult,” said Chaudhury and added that they are demanding the State Election Commission (SEC) to ensure participation of all parties in coming polls.
He said that by maintaining their poll alliance with Congress like previous elections, this time also all INDIA Bloc partners will jointly fight in Panchayat elections as per adjustment in local level.
In the last Panchayat elections, BJP candidates captured 96% of seats uncontested, opposition parties were unable to file nominations due to large-scale of violence sponsored by the ruling party, said Chaudhury.
He also said that the SEC has to ensure participation of all parties in the democratic process and they also urged the SEC to give a scope to file nomination papers through emails.
The CPI(M) is deeply anguished over the sinister of developments which have engulfed the centralized all India examination processes, be it NEET-UG, UGC-NET and now NEET-PG which has been postponed indefinitely in anticipation of irregularities, said Chaudhury.
Like CPI (M) politburo, the state unit of the party has also demanded resignation of union HRD Minister.
While, CPI (M) politburo statement issued on Sunday said that the combined impact of this are irregularities and complete collapse of the process which affects vital sectors of higher education in the country.
The paper leak issue reflects the complete collapse of the policy prescriptions in higher education for which the entire government is accountable, particularly the HRD Minister and he must resign, said the politburo statement.
The politburo also demanded for scraping the centralized NEET exams and every state should be allowed their own separate procedures for conducting admission tests to regulate entry into professional educational institutions.
