CPI (M) to oppose Sep 30 bandh, claimed it ‘unnecessary’
Opposition CPI (M) strongly opposes 12-hours Bandh called by regional Tipra-Motha in the areas of TTAADC on September 30th next and claimed it as ‘unnecessary’ and a step to harass people before the ensuing festivities.
Addressing a press conference at CPI (M) headquarters on Sunday afternoon, veteran party leader and convener of Left Front Narayan Kar accompanied by two former ministers Manik Dey and Naresh Jamatia said that Tipra-Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Saturday through a media briefing announced the shutdown in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) areas on September 30 in support of their ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand.
“Pradyot Kishore himself attended many meetings with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and union authorities over their demand for a constitutional solution and had also admitted the approach of Ministry Home Affairs (MHA) is very positive, why such pressure politics,” asked Kar.
He said that the so-called Bandh in ADC areas by Tipra-Motha is not a pressure politics over their demands, but in reality it’s a step to show their presence and to stop mass erosion inside their party and in support base.
Kar said that creating a fake high ambition among the youths of the state over separate state or ‘Greater Tipraland’ demands, the people living in hilly areas of the state have understood their fake politics and started deserting the camp en-masses.
Motha absolutely secured the majority in ADC elections and formed their council, but nothing did not for improve the welfare of poor tribal people like state government, said Kar and added that at present economic conditions of people living in ADC areas are deteriorating day by day and people are suffering a lot for their livelihood.
Criticizing Pradyot Kishore for playing with the sentiments of innocent people, Kar said that the leaders of Tipra-Motha are very much worried as they are rapidly losing their popularity in tribal areas.
He said CPI (M) strongly opposed the Bandh called by Motha and also claimed that it’s not a movement for their demands, but a step to harassing people before festivities.
