Taking a serious note of the clashes and violence till date  aftermath of the elections results across Tripura, the opposition CPI(M) again on Sunday urged the government to take strong action to stop violent attacks on opposition supporters.

Addressing a press conference at CPI (M) headquarters in Melarmath area of Agartala on Sunday evening CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury said that

He said that a ‘Jungle Raj’ prevails across the state and during the recently concluded assembly session, opposition voices gagged on burning issues and despite assurance from Chief Minister to stop post-poll violence, till date there are no such actions in reality.

Strongly criticizing  the treasury bench and the Speaker of the Assembly for suppressing the voice of the opposition parties on the floor of the House whenever they tried to raise the burning issues related to the interest of the state's people, Chaudhury added that during past few days he visited many assembly constituencies of the state and witnessed the terrified scenes of violence and atrocities upon the opposition supporters and the attacks on them are continues after passing of one month of poll results.

But, instead of complaints and numbers of FIRs, the police administration still does not act against miscreants of BJP, even though they are arresting innocent opposition supporters.

Jitendra Chaudhury claimed that the ruling BJP has continued their “jungle raj” both inside and outside of the House.

Suffering of  workers in different sectors, and drivers, who are facing tremendous hardship to run their families after March 2nd assembly poll results and till now thousands of opposition supporters are still out of their houses fearing attack by BJP workers, said Chaudhury.

He also appealed to the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and state administration to take concrete steps to stop violence and to take legal action against all perpetrators responsible for violence.

He also claimed that the “BJP-RSS-backed goons have not just mounted attacks on the people of the state but also destroyed means of their livelihood”, as many of them were forced to flee homes.

Chaudhury alleged more than 1,000 incidents of post-poll violence have been reported in Tripura and the police haven’t taken action in any so far. Even though the CPI(M) and Congress MPs were attacked in the presence of police during their visit to some violence affected areas of the state.

While demanding immediate action against ruling BJP MLA Jadab Lal Debnath, who was allegedly watching porn on his mobile during the assembly session, Chaudhury demanded immediate resignation of the accused MLA, who had violated the rules of the assembly.

Criticizing the BJP MLA, Chaudhury said that all the legislators are responsible persons and their acts should not create a bad precedent for the others, especially the young generations and demanded appropriate action against Debnath and sought the immediate intervention of the Assembly Speaker.
