CPI (ML) met Governor, demands proper compensation to all affected families of Gandacherra violence
Demanding formation of a judicial enquiry commission headed by a retired High Court judge to investigate the communal violence held in Gandacherra subdivision of Dhalai district, a delegation of CPI (ML) on Friday met the Governor in support of their eight point charter of demands.
After their deputation before the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhavan on Friday afternoon, secretary of CPI(ML) Tripura state committee, Partha Karmakar said that they have seek the intervention of Governor to ensure justice, freedom, fairness, equality, equity, fraternity and integrity for the victims of Gandacherra (Gandatwisa).
He said that the government should immediately constitute a judicial enquiry commission headed by a retired High Court justice to investigate the incidents and identify the criminals involved and the government should provide adequate compensation to all affected families.
Highlighting their demands, Karmakar said that they have urged the government to promote equality and justice and to avoid divisive politics and criminalization of politics to restore unity and trust among the people.
“The government must follow the principles of justice as per the Constitution to determine fair standards for compensation,” said Karmakar and added that the state government should take necessary measures to provide full compensation and initial assistance of Rs. 25,000 to 13 more unlisted affected families through impartial investigation .
Adequate facilities including blankets, mosquito nets, clean drinking water, medical care for the affected families living in relief camps and a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh and a government job to the eligible family member of the deceased Parameshwar Reang, said Karmarkar.
He also said that the CPI(ML) also demanded 100% compensation for the homeless and uprooted families to rebuild their destroyed houses , shops and resume their livelihood and adequate security arrangements in all affected areas.
