CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury meets Birajit Sinha to finalise joint poll campaign
CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Friday morning visited the house of Tripura Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha to finalise their joint poll campaign to ensure the victory of all Left Front and Congress candidates.
They also discussed the strategies of the election campaign and whether there will be any central public meeting on the initiative of the both parties.
Speaking with media persons Jitendra Chowdhury said that withdrawal of nomination papers, the LF are contesting in the election in 47 seats and Congress are contesting in 13 seats. “Now, we have discussed joint poll campaign and entire campaign jointly to ensure the defeat of ‘facistic’ BJP government”, said Chowdhury and added that the central leaders of CPI(M) will start their campaign across the state from February 9th next.
Pradesh Congress President Birjit Sinha said that supporters of both parties have already started campaigning jointly and the seat adjustment with Left parties has been done for the greater interest of state’s people to give a befitting reply to ruling BJP.
In response to a journalist's question, Birjit Sinha said that there was a temporary confusion among party workers and supporters but it has been overcome. He said the supporters of both parties are now sailing in a boat in the middle of the deep water and have to cross the ocean. If the boat sinks, everyone will die. He requested everyone to give united fight against BJP, the supporters of both parties have to ensure the victory of all Congress and LF candidates. Sinha also said that supporters of both parties have already started their campaign across the state in participation of a large number of people.
