Examinations in Assam in absence of online exam facility in Agartala: TSCBL

Tripura State Co-operative Bank Ltd (TSCBL) authorities clarified their position under what circumstances the online examination venue for recruitment towards 156 posts is decided to be held at 5 different places in Assam.

Addressing a press conference at Agartala on Saturday MD of the TSCBL , Bhajan Chandra Roy and its Chairman Kamal Kanti Sen, General Manager Mrs. Aparna Debbarma, and many other officials said that the country’s premier organization in employment testing, The Institute of Banking  Personnel Selection popularly known as IBPS  has been entrusted to be the recommending recruitment agency for the whole gamut. The IBPS in technical collaboration with the TCS is all set to conduct the online examination with 3 sets of questions on three different dates. For Cash,- Cum -General Clerk post on the 3rd, for Multi-Tasking Staff(MTS) post on the 4th, and Assistant Manager posts examination shall be held on 5th May 2024 respectively.

The MD informed that the IBPS was requested to conduct the online examination in Agartala as far as practicable. But notwithstanding all efforts, as the number of applicants was much higher in conformity with the infrastructure available in Agartala,  it was imperative to extend examination venues to the neighboring state. First time in the history of the Tripura banking recruitment process, an unprecedented 19,664 candidates applied for the 156 vacancy positions of Assistant Manager (50), Cash- Cum -General Clerk,(78), and Multi-Tasking Staff(MTS) 28  this year. The IBPS informed that despite using almost all the infrastructure of Agartala city, more than 5,000 candidates couldn't appear in the online exam. This was the reason why the examination venue was set up outside the state and that option was mentioned in the recruitment notification as well said the MD.

Accordingly, all the physically handicapped, departmental candidates and barring a few, most of the women applicants were accommodated to appear in the five exam venues in the home city Agartala while the rest of the candidates mainly men shall have to go in Guwahati,  Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Jorhat and Silchar centers. The TSCBL management solicited cooperation from all stakeholders through today's press meet and wished the aspiring candidates good luck to success. The Bank is all set to expand 10 more branches in the state once the selection of staff is complete, said the MD.
