Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said that trust and faith illuminate human life, and spiritual consciousness shows the right path to society.
He said that this journey of transitioning from an atheist mindset to an environment of faith further strengthens peace, values, and humanity in human life.
Dr Saha said this after the unveiling of the statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay at Bishalgarh Bypass Tri Junction and the inauguration of Maa Dakhineswari Kali Mandir at Madhya Bazar, Bishalgarh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Saha said, “I am really happy to inaugurate the newly built Sri Sri Dakshineswari Kali Temple today. In the coming days, this temple will become an important center of trust, faith, and spiritual practice. When religious and cultural values develop in society, people are more strongly bound to each other with the bond of respect, compassion, and harmony.”
The Chief Minister said that those who ran the previous government in the state did not believe in temples.
“They were atheists. But now the situation is changing, and people now believe in faith and spirituality. After our government came to power in 2018, an atmosphere of faith and spirituality has been created across Tripura. Our future path is based on this faith and trust. The Maa Dakshineswari Kali Temple in Bishalgarh has an ancient tradition. It is not just a religious place, but a tradition is associated with it. Many are also discussing whether this temple can be included in tourism. So I will talk to the ministers and officials of the concerned departments about this issue,” he said.
In his discussion, the Chief Minister also said that after the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an atmosphere of faith has been created across India.
“He has given importance to both development and tradition. On January 22, 2024, he inaugurated the Ram Madnir in Ayodhya. Later, I myself went there and saw it. And on November 25, 2025, the Prime Minister went there and hoisted the religious flag. After that, the Ram Mandir was fully established. On one hand, the Prime Minister is strengthening the country, and on the other hand, he is taking our tradition forward in the spiritual sense. Our people of Tripura are very religious,” said Dr. Saha.
The Chief Minister also said in his speech that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking development and tradition forward.
“For example, in December 2023, he inaugurated one of the world’s largest meditation centers in Varanasi. In 2017, he unveiled a 112-foot-tall statue of Adiyogi Shiva in Coimbatore. In 2022, he unveiled a 216-foot-tall statue of the eleventh devotee, Shri Ramanujacharya. He also dedicated the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and corridor in Varanasi. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the country is becoming stronger and infrastructure is being developed,” he added.
MLA Sushanta Deb, MLA Antara Deb Sarkar, and other prominent personalities were present as distinguished guests at the event.
