Fifteen more Bangladeshi, 3 Indian arrested from different borders for illegal entry
Amidst turmoil in neighbouring Bangladesh and despite strong surveillance in entire stretch of India-Bangladesh along with Tripura become vulnerable and infiltration by Bangladeshi and Rohingyas has been continues almost every bordering areas of Tripura and in its fresh episode, altogether 15 Bangladeshi including women and three more Indian were arrested by BSF and police from different border areas .
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration by Bangladeshi and Rohingyas into Tripura unabated, but vigilant security forces in maximum cases managed to arrest them after they entered Indian territory.
BSF through a press statement said that on Saturday morning , the Mobile Check Post ( MCP) laid a trap near Agartala Railway Station and managed to detain 9 persons on suspicion grounds. On spot questioning apprehended persons revealed their identity as Bangladesh nationals. Further it was revealed that the apprehended Bangladesh nationals were just released on bail and were planning to move to Kolkata for permanent settlement in India.
In a separate operation BSF troops of Belonia under South Tripura district detained six persons including two children while the group was trying to enter Indian territory through the unfenced and riverine gap of Muhuri river. On questioning the identity of the apprehended person were established as three Bangladeshi national ( including 1 child) resident of Chandpur district of Bangladesh and three Indian national ( including 1 child) resident of South Tripura district. They were later handed over to local police for further legal proceedings.
Police sources said that all persons detained from South Tripura district, were produced before a local court in Belonia and after producing documents in support of their Indian nationality, the court released them on bail.
In another incident, the police personnel of Gandacherra police station under Dhalai district have arrested four more Bangladeshi, belonging to religious minority, who were entered into Indian territory illegally after they were persecuted over their religion.
Police said that arrested Bangladesh nationals were identified as Chikka Chakma (24)(, Rupasi Chakma (32), Dipshi Chakma (39) and Revel Chakma (22) of Rangamati area of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). Police on Saturday also produced them before a local court and court sent them in jail custody up to November 7 next.
Over the last three and a half months, around 435 Bangladeshi nationals and over 60 Rohingyas were arrested by the GRP, BSF and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts (traffickers), but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
BSF sources added that they have stepped up domination and operation along the border and in hinterland to prevent infiltration and exfiltration and trans-border crime.
