Finance, Food ministers visits Churaibari check post to ensure seamless supply of goods in rainy season
In order to ensure the supply of essential food items in the ensuing rainy season by strengthening the public distribution system (PDS), both the Finance Minister and Transport and Food Minister visited the Churaibari check post in North Tripura district and held a series of meetings.
After visiting the check post and after a review meeting of the Food and Civil Supply department at the DM office of North Tripura district, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury speaking with media persons said that for strengthening the PDS, the officials of the department have to play a vital role.
After detailed discussion over the activities of the Food and Civil Supply department, the Minister said that the department has taken multiple steps to strengthen the PDS and on Wednesday, they visited the district to ensure the steps are being implemented properly.
Stressing over the seamless supply of food items in the coming rainy season, Chowdhury said that the state has sufficient stock of food grains and measures have been taken to maintain buffer stocks in the rainy season.
During the review meeting, the secretary of Food department Ravel Hemendra Kumar, DM of North Tripura district Nagesh Kumar B, director of Food department Nirmal Adhikari and other subdivisional authorities of the district were also present.
Later, the Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and Food, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited Churaibari check post and reviewed the arrangements of the post over transportation of essential goods. They also instructed officials to take more steps for smooth passages of goods through this check post.
Finance Minister Singha Roy said that after field verifications, the state government is now ensuring that all schemes and projects of the government are working properly. During their visit to Churaibari check post, secretary of Transport department Uttam Kumar Chakma was also present.
