Five BD smuggling transporters arrested from Belonia
Five Bangladesh nationals were arrested from a village in Belonia, who were hiding in a house of a suspected smuggler for transportation of goods to Bangladesh.
Police sources said that based on secret information, a contingent of police personnel raided at the house of Tamal Mallik near Bridge number-4 area under Belonia police station on Friday midnight and detained five Bangladeshi youths and recovered 15 cartons of clothes, 10 cartons of Nav Ratna and Himalaya oil.
Police said that arrested youths identified as Mohammad Sajib, Azad Hussain, Abdul Anwal, Sahed Uddin and Jahidul Islam, all from Parshuram area of Bangladesh had entered Indian territory by cutting the barbed wire fencing.
These youths were sheltered at the house of Tamal Mallik, who was engaged in smuggling of Indian goods to Bangladesh and these youths illegally entered Belonia for transportation of goods into their country.
Police on Saturday produced all arrested five youths to a local court in Belonia under section 370, 212 and 120(B) of IPC for further legal action.
Police added that they launched a search operation to arrest Tamal Mallik for harboring and concealing Bangladesh nationals into his house for smuggling purposes.
