Agartala city police on Wednesday arrested five drug peddlers including a woman from Goyala Basti area under NCC police station and recovered large quantities of Brown Sugar and cash under their possession.

Giving details of OC of NCC police station, Sushanta Deb said that based on specific information of illegal trading of drugs inside Goyala Basti area, police raided the spot and managed to arrest five peddlers, who were busy with selling drugs to some youths.

During the raids, police recovered 400 vials of Brown Sugar, 3000 empty vials and cash amount of Rs. 1.25 lakh under the possessions of Lal Kishan Ray, Rahul Saha, Dharmendra Ray, Lal Babu Ray and a lady identified as Guriya Devi.

He said all arrested drug peddlers were produced before a local court under a specific case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Wednesday with police remand appeals for interrogation. OC added that investigation is going on to unearth the nexus of drug smugglers in Goyala Basti and its adjoining areas.
