Five more Bangladeshi, 2 Indian arrested from Agartala, Belonia for illegal entry
Again on Monday, five more Bangladesh nationals along with two Indians were arrested by police and BSF from Agartala and South Tripura district.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station, Paritosh Das said that during the past one week, they have arrested three Bangladeshi from two separate parts of the city and based on their interrogation statement, police get the information of other Bangladesh nationals hidden in the city.
As per the interrogation statements of previously arrested three Bangladeshi youths, police on Monday managed to arrest three more Bangladesh youths from RMS Chowmuhani area of Agartala.
Arrested youths were identified as Taslim, Imran and Jasim, were the residents of Cox’s Bazar of Bangladeshi and they were produced before a local court on Monday with police remand appeals for further interrogation and to find out other Bangladeshi nationals hidden in the city.
In another incident, BSF on Monday has also detained two Bangladesh nationals and two more Indians.
Later, detained Bangladesh nationals and their Indian associates were handed over to Belonia police station for further legal proceedings.
OC of the Belonia police station, Shibu Ranjan Dey said that two arrested Bangladeshi were identified as Jayanta Das and Mina Majumder, who were entered into Indian territory without any valid documents for their treatment in Tripura. Their two Indian associates were identified as Mithun Dey and Pinki Dey and all four of them were produced before a Belonia court for further legal proceedings.
Official sources following unrest in Bangladesh, BSF and police have stepped up domination and vigil along the border in Tripura to prevent infiltration and trans border crimes.
With Monday’s detention, the BSF, Tripura police and the Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested 19 Bangladeshi nationals and two Rohingyas for illegally entering Tripura during the past 72 hours.
Over the last three months, more than 325 Bangladeshi nationals and about 42 Rohingyas have been held by the BSF, GRP, and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and other places in the state for illegally entering the Indian territory.
After the troubles and violence began in the neighbouring country in June security along the India-Bangladesh frontiers was further tightened and a close vigil has been maintained.
The BSF spokesman said that during the past two months, the force has foiled several infiltration bids in different bordering areas of the northeastern states.
In view of ongoing unrest and political crisis in Bangladesh, the BSF has stepped up its vigilance along the India-Bangladesh border with Northeastern states and maintained close coordination with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at various levels, he said.
