Five more Bangladeshi, Rohingyas arrested from Agartala railway station
Again, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested one Bangladeshi and four Rohingyas including a woman before they boarded a long distance train from Agartala railway station on Saturday evening.
Despite strong surveillance in the entire stretch of India-Bangladesh along with Tripura after unrest in Bangladesh to stop any attempted infiltration by Bangladeshi anti-social elements, the infiltration from the neighbouring country into Tripura still unabated.
In the present week, BSF jawans posted at North and South Tripura districts have also detained eight Bangladeshi including a woman, when they managed to sneak into Indian territory through barbed wire fencing.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP, Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that based on secret information, a joint contingent of GRP and RPF arrested one Bangladesh national and four Rohingyas including a women on Saturday evening before they board in a long distance train to travel to Kolkata and other major cities of the country from Agartala Railway station after entering India illegally.
The Bangladeshi nationals, aged between 20 to 37 years and majority of them were the residents of Rohingya camps in Cox Bazar of Chittagong, said OC of GRP of Agartala railway station, Tapash Das and added that they came to India in search of jobs. He said that all arrested Bangladeshi and Rohingyas were produced before a local court on Sunday with police remand appeals for further interrogation under Passport Act.
Arrested foreigners were identified as Sukur Ali (34) of Comilla district of Bangladesh and four Rohingyas were identified as Amir Hakim (37) of Balukhali Camp No-9, Ukiya, Cox Bazar Bangladesh, Yasmin Akhtar (20) of Balukhali Camp No-2, Ukiah, Cox Bazar , Md Tarek (19)of camp number -2 and Mahamad Ulla (25) of Camp No-11 in Cox Bazar.
“The Bangladeshi and Rohingyas confessed that they wanted to go to Chennai and Ahmedabad by train in search of jobs,” Das told the media, adding that some mobile phones and Indian and Bangladesh currencies were seized from them.
Over the last three months, more than 365 Bangladeshi nationals and 45 Rohingyas were arrested by the GRP, Border Security Force (BSF), and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India
BSF sources said that on September 25th last, the jawans posted at Ramendranagar Border Outpost (BOP) in South Tripura district arrested a Bangladeshi couple, who were residents of Chittagong district. BSF jawans were also arrested six more Bangladeshi from bordering areas of North Tripura district on the same day.
In recent times BSF has not only intensified the operations against the infiltrators but also strengthened the anti-infiltration apparatus to prevent the infiltration into Indian territory.
The bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman said that the paramilitary forces are cracking down heavily on the illegal migration by Bangladeshi nationals and have stepped up domination and vigil along the border in Tripura to prevent infiltration and trans border crimes.
Following the direction of Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the BSF has stepped up its drive against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and all field formations are actively breaking down the nexus of touts in the bordering areas.

It may be recalled here that Tripura Frontier Inspector General Patel Piyush Purushottam Das said that 95 percent of the 856 km India-Bangladesh border with Tripura has already been fenced, while fencing work is going on in the remaining 27.5 km.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
