Former Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar appointed as new SEC of Tripura
Before the ensuing Village Committee (VC) elections in Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas of Tripura, the state government on Saturday appointed former Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar as new State Election Commissioner (SEC).
The Rural Development (Panchayat) department of Tripura government through the notification , issued on Saturday (November 15, 2025) , signed by secretary Abhishedk Singh that former Chief Secretary and Special Chief Resident Commissioner- Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi will hold the office of SEC until further order.
“The Governor of Tripura on the recommendation of the state government has been placed to appoint Manoj Kumar, retired IAS officer as the State Election Commissioner (SEC) of the State Election Commission, Tripura,” said notification.
Former SEC, Saradindu Chaudhury (retired IAS) was appointed SEC on November 17, 2023 last and after completion of his tenure as SEC, the state government has appointed Manoj Kumar as new SEC of Tripura.
It may be recalled here in June, 2021,i Manoj Kumar, an IAS of Tripura cadre, 1990 and then Chief Secretary of Tripura was transferred and posted as Special Chief Resident Commissioner- Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi and also hold additional charge as Head of Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi .
