There is good news for people who own electric vehicles (EVs) in Tripura or are planning to buy one in the future. Charging an EV has now become much easier with the launch of a modern public charging station at the Banamalipur Power House campus in Agartala.

The charging station has been set up by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in collaboration with A Plus Charge. It is the first CAPEX-based public electric vehicle charging station in the state and has now been opened for public use.

One of the key features of the station is its fully digital and self-service charging system. Users do not need any staff assistance to charge their vehicles. They simply need to install the mobile application, select their vehicle model, make the payment online, and connect the charging gun to the vehicle. The charging process starts automatically and stops once the selected charging level is reached.

The facility is equipped with a 30 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, making it suitable for both private and commercial electric vehicles. The advanced charging system ensures fast, safe, and convenient charging.

The growing use of electric vehicles not only helps reduce fuel expenses but also plays an important role in lowering environmental pollution. As a result, EVs are becoming increasingly popular as an affordable and eco-friendly mode of transportation. The new charging station is expected to make EV ownership more convenient and encourage more people to switch to electric mobility.

TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu said that the corporation is working on a long-term plan to promote the use of electric vehicles and expand charging infrastructure across the state. As the nodal agency for the Central Government's PM E-Drive Scheme, TSECL has already submitted a proposal to establish 94 public EV charging stations at different locations across Tripura.

Once this ambitious plan is implemented, charging facilities will be available in almost all major parts of the state. The initiative is expected to encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles while supporting the vision of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Tripura.
