Governor launches five new titles by PP Publications, including Tripura’s first Kokborok children’s books
Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Thursday unveiled five new books published by PP Publications at a programme held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, marking the first day of the New Year 2026.
Among the five titles, two are children’s literature in Kokborok, making them the first-ever children’s books published in the language in Tripura. Though Kokborok is taught at the primary and graduate levels, children’s literature in the language had not been formally published earlier.
The first book, a rhyming collection titled “Blogging Sheep” (Blogging Khulainai Punamere), is written by Bikashrai Debbarma. The second, “The Story of the Tiger Cub” (Musa Busani Kathma), is a translated work of Telugu children’s literature, translated into Kokborok by Bikashrai Debbarma and Suprachita Debbarma.
The third publication is “Learn Bengali in Telugu”, authored by Prashant Aditya Modak and Bonda Venkata Prasad. It is the first Telugu–Bengali learning dictionary in Tripura’s publishing history and aims to help readers easily navigate between the two languages.
The fourth book, “Song Borok”, authored by Bikashrai Debbarma, focuses on the traditional cuisine of Tripura’s indigenous hill communities. The book documents the preparation methods of dishes such as Godok, Chakhui and Mosdong, while also highlighting their nutritional value, historical background, and associated folktales and myths. This initiative is considered a first of its kind in the state.
The fifth title, “Government Schemes and Projects in India”, is authored by Bonda Venkata Prasad and Sitansu Ranjan Dey. The book presents a comprehensive compilation of central government schemes and projects announced since Independence, many of which continue under the present administration. It is intended to serve as a handy reference for officials, public representatives and citizens to better understand and utilise government initiatives.
PP Publications is known for selecting unconventional and innovative subjects. In previous years, it gained recognition by publishing works such as “Shri Rajmala Pancham Lahar” and “Master of Time” by former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister and present Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
The publisher expressed gratitude to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu for inaugurating the books despite his busy schedule. All five titles will be available for readers at the PP Publications stall at the Agartala Book Fair.
