Govt expands Courts to sub-division level ensuring justice for all: CM
Legal profession not just a career, but a mission: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Sunday said that the legal profession is not just a profession, it is also an important mission and the present state government has set up courts everywhere to ensure justice in the state.
Dr Saha said this while inaugurating the sixth annual Legal Cell Conclave organized by the BJP Legal Cell at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala on Sunday.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Saha said that despite so many foreign attacks on India's culture and tradition, our country remains steadfast.
“Earlier, Swami Vivekananda made India's name shine. And now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking India forward. Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Madan Mohan Malviya, Ram Jethmalani, and many others were involved in politics as experienced lawyers. Lawyers have a significant role in Indian politics. A black coat or gown is an ornament for lawyers. This is a matter of pride for you. Lawyers must come forward at the forefront of developing India and Tripura. The legal profession is not just a profession; it is also a mission. You must understand this,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the Tripura government has established courts everywhere in the state to ensure justice.
“Courts have been established for people up to the sub-division level. Earlier, people had to go to Agartala or the district headquarters for trials. Now, that opportunity has been extended to the sub-district level. This is also creating employment opportunities. Along with lawyers, their assistants are also joining them. People from different walks of life constantly come to lawyers with their problems. People approach them with issues like domestic problems, murders, land disputes, etc. And it is very important for lawyers to keep themselves updated. Law and politics are always connected,” said Dr. Saha.
In his speech, Dr. Saha also said that lawyers have to interact with people from all sections of society.
“And now we are lucky to have such a famous Prime Minister and Home Minister. We are moving forward in the direction indicated by them. We are now in the hands of reliable people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gradually making the country stronger, whereas earlier there was only corruption and scams,” he added.
Present at this conclave were Bharatiya Janata Party's state vice-president, lawyer Subal Bhowmik; BJP Legal Cell in-charge Dr. Ashok Sinha; Convener Biswajit Deb; and other lawyer members of the Legal Cell.
