Govt working to make Tripura a medical hub: CM
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that Tripura is making rapid progress towards its development goals, attributing the success to the unwavering support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr. Saha said this while serving as the chief guest at the 'International Georgian Alumni Meet 2023' held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Center, KGMU-Lucknow.
"I am a very ordinary person. I'm nothing special. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving towards progress. He gave the name Ashtalakshmi to the Northeastern states, and Tripura is one of them. The Prime Minister presented the HIRA Model to Tripura, leading to rapid progress in communication, connectivity, from national highways to the internet, railways, and flights," said Dr. Saha.
He also shared the challenges he faced during his service in Tripura when the CPIM ruled the state. Dr. Saha mentioned that due to the efforts of the BJP government, the country is moving forward under the leadership of PM Modi.
The Chief Minister stated that he joined the BJP inspired by the ideals of the Prime Minister. "I joined the BJP and performed various important responsibilities. During the 35-year rule of Tripura, various incidents, including murder, terrorism, and mayhem, have taken place, which has no account. The Communists made the overall situation of Tripura very bad. After assuming office as the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi has given special priority to the development of North Eastern states. The country will not progress until the NorthEast region is developed," said Dr. Saha.
He also emphasized that Tripura is a peaceful state with a good law and order situation. "No untoward incident occurred in the last assembly elections, and no hooliganism will be tolerated in Tripura under any circumstances. The government is working with a very sincere approach towards infrastructural development in the state. Currently, there are two medical colleges, one dental college, one nursing college, and a pharmacy college. We are now planning to set up a Homeo and Ayurveda college to make Tripura a medical hub. People are looking to invest in Tripura because of the peaceful environment," said Dr. Saha.
Among the dignitaries present were Minister of State for Forest and Environment of Uttar Pradesh (Independent Charge) Arun Kumar Saxena, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, King George Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sonia Nithyananda, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Georgian Alumni Association Secretary Professor PK Sharma. On this day the Chief Minister also attended the 119th Foundation Day of KGMU at Uttar Pradesh.
