Half-burnt body of young woman recovered from a rubber garden in Srinagar
In a sensational incident, the half-burnt body of an unidentified young woman was recovered from a rubber garden under Srinagar police station in West Tripura district on Monday morning under mysterious circumstances.
According to police sources, local rubber trappers noticed stray dogs biting a human hand in the early hours of the day. On approaching the spot, they discovered the partially burnt body of an unidentified married woman lying near bushes inside the rubber garden. The matter was immediately reported to the Srinagar police station.
Soon after receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot along with forensic and dog squads and collected circumstantial evidence from the scene. Senior police officials later visited the area and initiated a detailed investigation.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman may have been murdered elsewhere and her body dumped inside the interior of the large rubber garden at Kali Tilla. Police suspect that the miscreants attempted to destroy evidence by setting the body on fire using kerosene oil and dry bushes.
Speaking to the media, Additional Superintendent of Police (Urban) Dhruba Nath said that an investigation has been launched and the forensic team has collected all necessary evidence. He informed that the deceased woman is believed to be between 25 and 30 years of age, and efforts are underway to establish her identity.
He further stated that the exact cause of death and whether the woman was sexually assaulted before being killed cannot be determined at this stage. The police are awaiting the autopsy and forensic reports for further clarity.
