Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gitte on Sunday inspected the newly constructed Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) Institute building at Durjoynagar, at the outskirts of Agartala. The visit aimed to review the infrastructural and administrative preparations required to make the institute fully operational in accordance with prescribed guidelines.

Among those present during the inspection were Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Health Education Dr. H.P. Sharma, Head of Office-cum-Deputy Director (Dental) Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. Shankha Shubhra Debnath, the Principal of Agartala Government Nursing College and ANM Institute, members of the Nursing Council, and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Public Works Department’s MCD Division.

The delegation toured various sections of the building and reviewed classrooms, laboratories, administrative facilities, accommodation arrangements, electricity and drinking water supply, along with other essential infrastructure. Discussions were also held on the preparations required for commencing ANM training programmes and expediting the completion of the remaining works.

At the end of the inspection, emphasis was placed on ensuring coordination among the concerned departments and officials to make the institute functional at the earliest. Officials expressed hope that the new institution would play a significant role in producing skilled nursing and healthcare personnel in the state once it becomes operational.
