The CPI (M) state committee through a press statement congratulating the courageous electorate of the state for their participation in the voting process of assembly election in large numbers.
The party has applauded the strong role of the electors in restoring democracy, peace and harmony in the state. In this manner, the courageous electorate of Tripura came forward to resist and defeat the enemy of democracy by resisting all the intimidation, conspiracy, obstruction and life-threatening assault and eventually exercising their fundamental rights to vote freely has set a historic precedent in Tripura. The electors won the extraordinary battle for democracy on Thursday.
This is an example set before the country on how to combat a democratic battle for the restoration of democracy in a state, said the statement and added that the party has expressed its contentment, deep respect and gratitude to the grand electors in the assembly election held on Thursday. CPI(M) said that the polling process in this election has taken an unusual time to test the limit of patience of the voters which they got rid of by dint of their courage and patience till nine in the chilled night. The party regretted the inconveniences adhered to the waiting electorates and urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take effective measures to prevent this sort of bitter experience in future. The party strongly condemns the cowardly role and attack of the BJP-sponsored goons on the polling agents of the opposition parties. The party demands that the Election Commission make adequate security arrangements for the safe arrival of the polling agents who despite several threats were dedicated to their work in making the pool free and fair at the behest of the commission. All the attackers and miscreants who were actively involved in the attack be arrested and punished as per the provision of law.
Tipra- Motha spokesman Antony Debbarma has also expressed his hope that their party will win a majority in the state assembly as they are expected to win all the 20 tribal reserve seats in the state.
Congress said barring a few constituencies, the election passed off peacefully and the Congress-CPI(M) alliance is hopeful that they will win the absolute majority in the state assembly.
