IBC seminar on NE states' infrastructures, engineers plays crucial role for development
The Indian Buildings Congress (IBC), in collaboration with Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Urban and Rural Development Departments and the Public Works Department organized a Northeast Regional Seminar titled "Infrastructure in Northeast Region of India: Challenges & Way Ahead" at Sukanta Academy Auditorium in Agartala on Saturday.
Addressing the seminar, Tripura's Minister for Transport and Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the government’s focus on infrastructure as a catalyst for overall state development.
Minister Chowdhury noted that engineers play a pivotal role in building robust infrastructure, which directly impacts the state's progress. "Our state's engineers are effectively implementing various projects initiated by the state and central governments," he said.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the minister pointed out that Tripura previously had only one national highway, NH-44. However, under the current administration, six new national highways have been announced, with funds already allocated for their construction. He expressed confidence that these highways would significantly boost the state's connectivity and economic growth, transforming them into critical infrastructure for Tripura’s development.
The seminar brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in improving infrastructure across Northeast India. Participants underscored the importance of sustained investment and innovative solutions to overcome regional barriers and unlock the region's growth potential.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure projects and fostering a conducive environment for holistic development in Tripura.
