Indian Army promotes fitness for youth of Agartala by organizing a badminton tournament
With an aim to promote the culture of fitness and sports among children, Indian Army organized a badminton tournament in Agartala for school-going children from 17- 20 April 2024. Over 50 students from 12 schools in Agartala enthusiastically participated and showcased their talent.
The tournament was open to both boys and girls, for under 15 and under 17 age categories. The tournament saw participation of 19 boys and 9 girls in Under 15 category and 13 boys and 9 girls in Under 17 category.
Throughout the tournament, the participants displayed exemplary sportsmanship, upholding values of fair play, respect and discipline. The finals, held on April 20th, witnessed a thrilling display of talent, witnessed by a large crowd comprising students, teachers and parents alike.
In the Under 17 boys category, Master KSH Purab Singha clinched the 1st position, while Miss Namrata Karmakar secured the top spot in the girls' category. Master Mayank Mavi and Master Srihan Banik claimed the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, in the boys' category, with Miss Ekta Rathi and Miss Payal Mavi securing the corresponding positions in the girls' category.
Similarly, in the Under 15 category, Master Sahil Kumar emerged victorious among the boys, with Miss Deepshikha Das securing the top position among the girls. Master Rudranil Das and Master Aditya Shekhar secured the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, in the boys' category, while Miss Sujana Pal and Miss Aanya Dala achieved the same in the girls' category.
Indian Army takes immense pride in organizing an event that not only promotes physical activity but also nurtures important values among the youth of Agartala. This initiative underscores the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to the holistic development of young minds and the promotion of sportsmanship.
