Tripura’s Industries Minister Santana Chakma on Friday distributed certificates and cash prizes to the winners of the Regional IndiaSkills Competition 2025-26, in which Tripura achieved commendable success in Assam. The state participated in 16 trades with 28 competitors and secured 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze, and 1 Medallion of Excellence.
A total of 17 candidates from Tripura will represent the state at the National IndiaSkills Competition, including 13 direct qualifiers in future-ready sectors such as Cyber Security, Industry 4.0, ICT Infrastructure, Renewable Energy, and Digital Construction.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) provides cash awards of Rs.75,000 for Gold, Rs.50,000 for Silver, and Rs.25,000 for Bronze medal winners at the regional level. In addition, under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa’ (MMDUP), the Government of Tripura is providing the same amount as additional incentives per participant. The Minister personally handed over the cash incentives to the medal winners during the programme. These achievements reflect the dedication of students, trainers, and institutions and highlight Tripura's growing presence in the national skill ecosystem.
On the occasion, the Minister also formally launched the General Duty Assistant training program under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa’ (MMDUP) in collaboration with Swadhin Trust. Under this initiative, 100 candidates will undergo 8 months of on-the-job training with a minimum monthly stipend of Rs. 8000 per candidate and assured placement in the healthcare sector with a minimum salary of Rs. 10,000 after successful completion of training. The program aims to create employment opportunities for youth and strengthen healthcare support services in the state.
Ms Chakma further launched the Soft Skills and Interview Preparedness Course for 200 students of Government Degree Colleges across Tripura. Delivered through 28 short online live one on one interview modules, the course will help students improve communication skills, confidence, and professional behaviour. These skills are essential for success in employment and competitive examinations, and the initiative will prepare students for better career opportunities.
