“Jungle Raj” prevails inside and outside of assembly, opposition voices gagged on burning issues, Jitendra Chaudhury
The opposition CPI (M) on Tuesday strongly criticized the treasury bench and the Speaker of the Assembly for suppressing the voice of the opposition parties on the floor of the House whenever they tried to raise the burning issues related to the interest of the state's people.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the press conference hall of the assembly, MLA and CPI(M) state committee secretary Jitendra Chaudhury claimed that the ruling BJP has continued their “jungle raj” both inside and outside of the House.
“The CPI(M) legislative team is the second largest opposition political party after Tipra-Motha and on the first day reference was given but the speaker did not allow it by claiming the matter is a sub judice matter. The rules of giving any reference as the MLAs have to submit it before the Speaker or Secretary of the assembly before 9 AM and the houses start at 11AM and they have no such time to understand whether it is a sub-judice matter or not. But the Speaker in the house said it is a sub- judice matter without knowing its details,” said Chaudhury and claimed that the speaker has violated the rules of the Assembly.
He further said that again Deputy Leader of CPI(M) Shyamal Chakraborty has also brought another calling attention on the problems and suffering of workers in different sectors, and drivers, who are facing tremendous hardship to run their families after March 2nd assembly poll results , but the Speaker didn’t allow it to discuss on the house.
“On the second day, again I brought another calling attention about retrenched 10, 323 teachers, but again he didn’t allow it. There is no way to ask for supplementary, no way to ask for points of clarification. The Chief Minister is holding the lion's share of the department while answers are being given by some other ministers or MLAs. The way BJP continued its jungle raj inside the assembly, the same way they are doing in the outside of the assembly and are providing wrong answers in the assembly”, said Chaudhury.
He also lashed at the Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath and claimed that Nath intentionally dumb the Chief Minister violating all courtesy to the leader of the House. “Is it total jungle raj and undemocratic exercise? The way unruly persons speak on the road, the same way Nath was speaking in the assembly”, said Jitendra.
Highlighting the post-poll violence across the state, Chaudhury said that ruling BJP has intensified the violent activities upon opposition supporters after March 2nd. Giving details Chaudhury said that more than 600 persons were injured, around 80 houses were fully damaged, 67 houses were partially vandalized, 1647 shops were burnt into ashes, ransacked, many rubber plantations were gutted into ashes, more than 100 vehicles were destroyed. Drivers are unable to ply their vehicles on the road because they worked for CPI(M), said Chaudhury and added that six families were evicted from their houses in Sabroom under the South district. Around 527 persons are displaced due to violence. We thought to raise all these issues but whenever we try to raise these burning issues through calling attention, reference period, they decline it”, Chaudhury alleges.
