Kabiguru’s thought shows us way in crisis period: CM

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday appealed to people to be inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's literature, philosophy, and thinking as whenever a crisis arises, his way of thinking showed the way to out of that crisis.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said this at the ‘Prabhati Kavi Pranaam’ function organized at Rabindra Kanan in Agartala on the celebration of the 162nd birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.

“Be inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's literature, philosophy, and thinking. Whenever a crisis arises, his way of thinking shows us the way out of that crisis. His short stories, dramas, poems, music, and essays have guided us in every way. Rabindranath Tagore had a deep connection with Tripura since the royal period. From Maharaja Bir Chandra Manikya to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, he had good relations with the Maharajas”, said the Chief Minister.

In the event organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, the Chief Minister also said, Rabindranath Tagore is one of the great heroes of our culture. He is involved in everything including thought and culture.

“Rabindranath Tagore became the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize for his English translation of Gitanjali. He has created so much in his life which is unimaginable. He is a legend in the true sense. In the true sense, he is the bearer of Indian culture. Nothing is possible without Rabindranath”, said Dr Saha.

Chief Minister Dr Saha said, that be it politics from the past or any event - Rabindranath Tagore's songs, tunes, poems, and essays are present in their glory.

“His contribution to the love of the country will be remembered forever. Rabindranath Tagore grudgingly rejected the British knighthood given by the British in defiance of General Dyer's role in protesting the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Two songs composed by him are sung with reverence as national anthems in India and Bangladesh. People can know about the kings of Tripura and about Tripura from Rajarshi, Bisarjan, Mukut which was written by Kabiguru”, said the Chief Minister.

On this day, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha recited a poem written by Kabiguru in English. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs department PK Chakraborty and other eminent personalities were present as distinguished guests on the occasion.
