In a significant seizure, Agartala city police on Thursday night seized large quantities of contraband cough syrup ‘Eskuf’ from the headquarters of India Post in Agartala.
Police sources said that based on secret information, the police personnel from West Agartala police station led by SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy raided at the Agartala branch of India Post in Post Office Chowmuhani and recovered many cartons contained with contraband cough syrups with unidentified address in Agartala.
Police said that a total 745 bottles of Eskuf syrups were recovered from parcels with unidentified addresses in Agartala.
They added that police started an investigation by registering a specific case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and hoped that soon they will identify the destination and will arrest persons involved with smuggling of contraband items through India Post.
