Left-Congress to get absolute majority, BJP to consist in single digit: Jitendra Chaudhury
In the poll history of Tripura, this is perhaps for the first time , the common people of Tripura are decided and their main issue is to restore the democracy and has taken steps to defeat the five years long ‘misrule’, said CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury.
Speaking in the ‘meet the press’ programme organized by the Agartala press club on Tuesday noon, Chaudhury said that it is clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister worried for BJP’s victory in Tripura assembly polls and claimed that BJP will consist in a single digit number after February 16 assembly polls and the alliance by Left Front and Congress will get the absolute majority to restore the democracy in the state. He also said that regional Tipra-Motha should acquire good numbers in ST reserved constituencies.
Replying to a number of questions raised by media persons, Chaudhury said that after five years of violent and oppressive politics by ruling BJP, now the people of the state are desperately waiting to restore rules of law and democracy in the state.
Chaudhury said that the Left Front and Congress have differences in ideologies, but at present, the constitution is under attack and there is a need of the hour to restore democracy and that is the main reason Left parties and Congress have gone for seat-adjustment in the February 16 assembly polls.
He said in the last five years, the media which is termed as the fourth pillar of democracy has been constantly under threat and most of the media houses in the state were regulated by another force and those who raised objections or published news against misrule, were censored or closed down. Regarding justice for two slain journalists, Chaudhury said that during the Left Front government’s regime, SIT was formed and the investigation almost reached the end. Government changed and the CBI was handed over the cases. But later it was found that both the investigation was suppressed and none was arrested for hidden reasons, said Chaudhury.
Appreciating the role of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chaudhury said to a certain extent, the role of ECI officials in Tripura is sensible. As the ECI and CEO announced for ‘Zero-Poll Violence’ and people were assured so, the ECI official has taken immediate action against those law violators on the day of announcement of assembly election in Tripura at Majlishpur assembly constituency. However, there are sporadic incidents in different parts of the state and in some cases; the ruling party-sponsored hooligans are challenging the ECI. But the people of the state are ready to face any eventuality on the day of polling anywhere in the state, said Chaudhury.
Highlighting commitments made in the poll manifesto of the Left Front, he said the people's government will be formed on March 2nd and law and order will prevail everywhere. “The LF committed to appoint 2.5 lakh youths in government and private sectors and the politics played with retrenched 10,323 teachers by the BJP government, they will get proper accommodation in the new government,” said Chaudhury.
He also alleged the constitutional bodies are the most affected in the last five years of BJP’s regime and after formation of BJP government, all the elections held in the last five years were vitiated and BJP made all elections into a farce.
Representatives were elected through rigging, they are directly regulated from Nagpur or Delhi, said Chaudhury and added that the BJP claimed for ‘Vocal for Local’, but they are outsourcing in permanent post at different offices and livelihood of large number of youths were snatched by BJP government and unemployment rate now reached at its peak.
He alleged that BJP to maintain their misrule made ‘Bike Bahini’ to continue their violent politics and suppressed the voices of opposition.
“Proper steps to be initiated against those who have utilized SoFED for outsourcing. Moreover, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb’s army siphoned lakhs of money using this SoFED,” Chaudhury claimed and added that Tripura is being made a laboratory for RSS and BJP.
Speaking about ADC, Chaudhury said “BJP in its ‘Vision Document’ committed to form an empowered committee in giving much autonomy to TTAADC, but till now nothing has been done. BJP is the common enemy of all people living in hills and plains. That is the reason; Tipra-Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma went to independent Purushottam Roy Barman’s campaign on his invitation.
Claiming ADC got throttled and deprived of their due share; Chaudhury said “It is an admitted fact that the TIPRA Motha have an influence in 20 ST reserved seats. Still this party gave 22 more candidates. He said that CPI(M) had dialogues for pre-poll alliance or adjustment with Motha, but it did not happen. “ The LF and Congress are expecting post-poll discussions as Left and Congress are winning with absolute majority and BJP will reach a single digit number of winning seats and their alliance partner IPFT will vanish,” said Chaudhury.
Considering the five years long misrule of BJP and coming elections, the seat adjustment is very big and on March 2nd it will give massive results, that is why the Prime Minister Modi and the Union Home Minister are immensely worried, said Chaudhury.
Giving reply to ‘Chanda’ (donation) remarks made by PM Modi , Chaudhury said CPI(M) led Left Front collects subscriptions from daily wage labourers to government employees and it is open to all to run the party and election campaigns. The political organization runs through their contributions and they are willingly donating to the party, said Chaudhury and added that they are not like the BJP who are looting the country’s treasure and using helicopters and chartered planes for personal gain. In this ‘Meet the Press’, Agartala Press Club’s vice-president Arun Nath and secretary Pranab Sarkar, were also present.
