Leaving all speculation over support of Congress candidate in West Tripura parliamentary constituency, former Chief Minister and CPI(M) politburo member Manik Sarkar on Saturday joined the election campaign for Ashish Kumar Saha and claimed if ruling BJP again vote to power for third time , the democratic spirit and rights of citizens would be collapsed.

Sarkar addressing a election rally in support of INDIA Bloc candidate Ashish Kumar Saha at Bankumari Bazar area of Pratapgarh assembly constituency in Agartala on Saturday afternoon through his scathing attacks on BJP said that  if BJP get the result in favour for formation of third government in centre, then the erosion of fundamental rights for the common people will start.

Highlighting the ten years rule of the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sarkar said that to destroy the democratic structure and independence rights of all agencies has been destroyed by the BJP for their political gain and to destroy opposition parties and their government.

After the historic verdict of the Supreme Court over Electoral Bond, the CPI(M) and other Left parties from the beginning opposed it and now it crystal clear, all black money collected by BJP for their political benefit, said Sarkar and added that about 48 to 52% of total Electoral bond has been collected by BJP.

Emphasizing the essence of secularism, Sarkar said that the Constitution does not mandate adherence to any specific religion for citizenship and the BJP government implemented CAA  to exploit religious sentiments for political gains.

The alleged lawlessness and biased conduct of law enforcement agencies under the BJP regime is now destroying the democratic structure of the country and empowered with black money from electoral bonds, BJP engaged themselves with horse trading and collapsed many opposition governments in the last ten years, said Sarkar.

He accused the police of turning a blind eye to atrocities against women and failing to uphold justice impartially.

Asserting the need for an alternative government that upholds democratic and secular values of the country, Sarkar urged the voters to ensure victory of opposition candidates to protect the country.

Sarkar also slammed the BJP government for misusing the  institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Election Commission to further its agenda and has also cautioned that such activities will endanger  the very essence of secularism, which has been ensured in the Constitution.

Addressing the rally Tripura Pradesh Congress president and INDIA Bloc candidate , Ashish Kumar Saha urged voters to exercise their franchise wisely to safeguard the  constitution of the nation and to protect all citizen rights.
