Massive search in all accused houses of Bharat Ratna club secretary murder, more days PR to 3 arrested accused
In its latest development over the investigation of the sensational murder of club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki, who was shot dead on April 30 night, police Tuesday conducted massive search operation in the houses of six accused persons and seized many incriminating documents.
Police sources said that the investigation team with orders of Magistrate had conducted search operations at the houses of many accused including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Prabakar Ghosh, Amit Ghosh, Debabrata Barman, Rakesh Barman and Deb Das.
During the search operation, the police has found few houses of the accused persons were locked and police in presence of DCM of West Tripura district has opened the locks of the houses including prime accused Raju Barman at Buddha Mandir area of Agartala and other houses located in Usha Bazar area under Airport police station.
Police sources added that during a day-long search in all houses of prime accused persons, the investigation team had recovered many incriminating documents including land deeds, bank pass books and other related with unaccounted properties of the miscreants and sealed their houses.
Sources said that police have also appealed before the court to issue permanent non-bailable arrest warrants against all FIR named accused persons, who were locally infamous for the negotiation mafias.
A special team compromising senior police officers has also been formed by the state police for investigation of the sensational murder case.
While, so far only three accused persons including Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury, Sushmita Sarkar and Birchakra Ghosh, younger brother of one prime accused Prabakar Ghosh were arrested, who are now in police custody and again on Tuesday were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (West Tripura) with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
Government advocate Raju Datta said that court after hearing both prosecution and defense teams has granted three more days police remand to both Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury and Sushmita Sarkar. The court also granted seven days police remand to Birchakra Ghosh, who was arrested on Monday from Kolkata.
Earlier, on Monday, the Agartala city police on Monday arrested another prime accused from Kolkata involved in the sensational murder of incumbent club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki.
The investigation team so far was unable to arrest the remaining half-dozen of accused including some noted negotiation mafias, but claimed that investigation was in the final stage and would soon resolve the murder mystery.
Police sources few teams of state police are now camping in different parts of the country to arrest seven FIR named assailants involved in the shootout and one team led by Additional SP(West) Chiranjib Chakraborty, who are camping in Kolkata, on Monday managed to arrest one of accused identified as Bir Chakra Ghosh (46) of Chinaihani area of Usha Bazar, younger brother of Prabakar Ghosh from Mukundpur area of Kolkata and brought him to Agartala through a transit remand.
While giving some information over the progress of the investigation, SDPO(NCC) Subrata Barman said that so far, police have arrested three accused including Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury, Sushmita Sarkar and Bir Chakra Ghosh and investigation is progressing well and they conducted search operations at all houses of accused persons. He hoped that soon other accused involved in the killing of Viki will soon be arrested as many police teams are moving different parts to arrest all escaped criminals.
Meanwhile, SP(West) Kiran Kumar has also said that so far police have arrested three persons involved with the murder of Durga Prasanna Deb. Though police are interrogating many persons, they have officially arrested only three persons including a girl.
It may be recalled here that after the shootout, on May 1st, the investigation team of Airport police station has arrested former club president of Bharat Ratna Sangha, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury from Usha Bazar and based on the interrogation statement of Chowdhury, who was in police custody, police on Thursday (May 2) night arrested one of the prime accused and alleged mastermind of the murder, Sushmita Sarkar (22).
While, sharing some investigation details, the SP(West) Kiran Kumar and SDPO(NCC) Subrata Barman said that the police investigating team are getting some vital information over the murder of Viki and they are tracking about six of accused persons to arrest them at the earliest, who are on the run after the incident. They said that soon police will be able to resolve mystery of the murder.
Police sources said that the investigating team is trying to collect the weapon of crime, phone call details of Sushmita with accused Raju Barman along with call record and WhatsApp details.
Government Advocate Indrajit Biswas said that after the sensational murder of Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki on Tuesday evening (April 30) at Shalbagan area under Agartala Airport police station, police has registered an Suo-Moto FIR under section 302, 120(B) of IPC and 27 Arms Act against assailants.
He added that based on the complaint of the wife of the deceased youth, many club members of Bharat Ratna Sangha were involved with the sensational murder of Viki, who was also a local leader of BJP.
It may be recalled here that the shootout at Shalbagan Bazar has prime reason of growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias and the North side of Agartala city has once again shaken the cantonment area of Shalbagan , in which club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar shot dead, which mainly held for a share of money of negotiation CPW contracts.
Viki’s wife said that negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Rakesh Barman, Debabrata Barman, Santosh, Amit Ghosh and Prabakar Ghosh were responsible for the killing of her husband and she had also named these persons in the FIR.
