Mother and son seriously injured as big Sal tree falls during Storm in Udaipur

During the day long Norwester storm, which wreck havoc across Tripura, a major accident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Murapara Jamjuri Shastriji Colony area of Udaipur under Gomati district  after a heavy storm accompanied by heavy rain lashed the region. A large sal tree from the premises of a house suddenly collapsed onto the roof, leaving a mother and her son seriously injured.

Sources said that  Monibala Shukla Das (60) and her son Rabidas (30) were inside the house at the time of the incident. During the storm, the massive tree fell on their house, causing the entire structure to collapse within moments and trapping them underneath.

Local sources said that neighbors rushed to the spot after hearing hue and cry for help and managed to rescue both victims through swift action. Upon receiving information, fire service personnel from Udaipur arrived at the spot and transported the injured mother and her son to Gomati District Hospital.

Hospital sources said that due to the critical condition of the injured, the attending doctors referred them to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.

The incident has created panic in the area, with residents expressing concern over the risks posed by large trees during storms and heavy rainfall.
