Mother of two files rape allegation against Yuva Morcha district president in Kailashahar
In a story of love that led her to leave home, or a case of deception? In Kailashahar, allegations of an extramarital affair and betrayal involving Pradipta Paul, a mother of two, have now become the talk of the town.
Finally, on Tuesday the mother of two has filed a written complaint at the Kailashahar Women police station under Unakoti district accusing District Yuva Morcha president Arup Dhar of rape and prolonged harassment, creating widespread reaction across the state.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that about a year ago she became acquainted with Arup Dhar through social media, and their friendship gradually developed into a close relationship. She claimed that Dhar later began approaching her using his political influence and allegedly pressured her to establish an illicit relationship. When she initially refused, he allegedly threatened to kill her husband.
Under pressure, the woman said she eventually left her husband’s house and began living separately. She further alleged that during the Durga Puja festivities last year, Dhar told her that he wanted to marry her, claiming that his wife would never be able to bear children. However, when she hesitated, he allegedly threatened to kill both her husband and children.
The complainant stated that one evening Dhar asked her to come to the Yuva Morcha’s temporary office near the Katal Dighi area, saying he needed to speak with her for a few minutes. When she went there, she alleged that he forcibly assaulted her. According to her statement, she was thrown to the ground, her clothes were torn, and she was raped. When she tried to protest, he allegedly threatened her with a knife and warned that he would kill her husband and children if she spoke about the incident.
Out of fear, she remained silent for months. However, she later revealed that on January 23 this year, Dhar allegedly attempted to attack her husband with the help of several people.
The complaint further stated that on March 3, around 7.30 PM, Dhar allegedly came to the Kacherghat area and attempted to forcefully take her away again. When she screamed for help, local residents and her husband rushed to the spot, after which the accused reportedly assaulted her husband before fleeing.
The woman said she has now filed a written complaint seeking justice and proper investigation. She also alleged that despite submitting the complaint at the police station, she was not given a receipt copy of the FIR.
Currently, Pradipta is staying with relatives at her father’s house and claims she has no one to look after her. Speaking to reporters, Pradipta said, “My husband went to jail because of me. I was involved in this relationship for a year and gave my time to it. But today I have become a victim of betrayal. He promised to marry me and now he has run away. I have come to the Women police station seeking justice.”
The serious allegations against the BJP District Yuva Morcha president and Pradipta’s statement have now become a major topic of discussion in the area.
The allegations against a prominent youth political leader have also triggered serious concern in the area. Police have received the complaint, and further investigation into the matter is expected.
