National Law University Tripura (NLU-Tripura) hosted Brigadier Manish Rana, SM, Commander of Assam Rifles, as the distinguished speaker for the 3rd Tripura Dialogue Forum (TDF) Talk on Monday (October 28).
Brigadier Rana delivered an insightful lecture on “The Armed Forces and Civic Responsibility,” addressing a large gathering of students, faculty, and local dignitaries at the university’s main auditorium. Brigadier Rana’s talk highlighted the profound relationship between the armed forces and civic responsibilities, especially in India’s Northeastern region, where the military's role extends beyond defense to include community support, infrastructure development, and peacebuilding. The 3rd TDF Talk concluded with a vibrant Q&A session where students and faculty engaged Brigadier Rana on a range of issues, including civic-military cooperation and the role of law in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. Brigadier Rana’s responses provided valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of serving both military and civil interests.
NLU-Tripura’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh while giving welcome address informed the resource person and audiences that the Tripura Dialogue Forum is conceived with the objective of promoting meaningful discussions on pressing socio-legal issues.
This talk resonates with the university’s mission to engage with contemporary issues that shape our nation. The event was attended by students and teachers from NLU Tripura and Tripura Government Law College. Faculty Advisor of TDF, Dr. Debasree Debnath coordinated the event and delivered vote of thanks.
