Newlywed bride killed in road mishap, five including her husband battling for life
In a tragic road accident held at the Bagma portion of National Highway under Gomati district on Sunday, one newlywed bride died on the spot and her husband and mother-in-law along with three others are now battling for life in hospitals.
Police sources said that a newlywed couple Aditya Saha and his wife Debadrita Chowdhury with mother Laxmi Saha and their driver Samir Roy were returning home at Agartala after completing worship at Mata Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur on Sunday noon.
When their private car with heavy speed reached the Koroimura area of Bagma under RK Pur police station, their car collided face on with another private car coming from the opposite direction at heavy speed.
After the heavy sound of the crash, some local people, drivers and passengers from some vehicles travelling through NH rushed to the spot and by cutting the doors of the cars, they recovered all the injured persons.
Among the passengers of both cars, Debadrita Chowdhury was found dead and her husband Aditya Saha and mother-in-law Laxmi Saha were seriously injured in the mishap. Two persons including the driver of the other vehicle, identified as Utpal Saha (28) and Rana Sutradhar (33) also suffered critical injuries.
All the injured persons were shifted to Bishramganj hospital in Sepahijala district by police and firefighters. Among them, Aditya Saha, his mother Laxmi Saha and their driver Samir Roy were referred to GB Hospital in critical conditions. Two other injured persons Utpal Saha and Rana Sutradhar were admitted to Bishramganj hospital.
It may be recalled here that Aditya Saha is son of the renowned advocate Tapan Saha and incumbent club president of ‘Chhatrabandhu Club’ of Agartala. The reception ceremony of Aditya and his wife Debadrita was held on February 15 last at their Surya Choumohani house in Agartala through a grand party. But, within three days of their wedding reception ceremony, Debadrita was killed by the heart wrenching road mishap and his husband Aditya is now battling for life at the Trauma centre of GB Hospital.
Hospital sources said that the condition of both Aditya and his mother is very critical. Police sources said that they have registered a specific case and stated that the tragic mishap was due to reckless and speeding driving on the national highway.
