Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, accompanied by senior railway officials, conducted a comprehensive two-day inspection of key railway infrastructure and operational facilities at Agartala and Sekerkote railway stations in Tripura under the Lumding Division on June 18 and 19.

During the inspection, the General Manager reviewed track conditions, railway assets, passenger amenities and ongoing developmental works. He also assessed the progress of projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, passenger convenience and rail connectivity across the state.

A detailed examination of track maintenance standards, ballast conditions, drainage systems, bridges and other railway assets was carried out. The inspection assumed added significance given Tripura's challenging terrain and heavy monsoon rainfall, which require continuous monitoring to ensure safe and reliable train operations.

At Agartala Railway Station, Shrivastava inspected passenger facilities, including escalators, lifts and other amenities, to evaluate the quality of services provided to commuters. He also reviewed the progress of railway electrification and other infrastructure projects intended to modernise the railway network, improve operational efficiency and enhance passenger comfort.

The General Manager also visited the Agartala Coaching Depot, where he assessed coach maintenance, cleanliness, safety compliance and operational preparedness. In addition, he inspected the Running Room for train operating crew, reviewing accommodation, hygiene standards and other amenities while emphasising the importance of staff welfare in ensuring safe, efficient and reliable railway operations.

During the visit, Shrivastava inaugurated a new lift at Agartala Railway Station, further strengthening passenger facilities.

Tripura has witnessed significant progress in rail connectivity since the introduction of broad-gauge services to Agartala in 2016. Major initiatives, including the Agartala–Akhaura International Rail Link, the Narangi–Agartala Express and the proposed introduction of Electric MEMU and Vande Bharat services, are expected to further enhance regional connectivity, improve passenger convenience and contribute to the state's socio-economic development.

The inspection reflects NFR's continued commitment to strengthening railway infrastructure, enhancing passenger amenities and maintaining the highest standards of safety. These initiatives are aimed at delivering reliable, efficient and passenger-friendly railway services across Tripura and the Northeast.
