NLU Tripura conducts School-Connect programme at Holy Cross School, Agartala
The National Law University (NLU) Tripura conducted its fifth School-Connect programme at Holy Cross School Agartala for the students of class 11 and 12 on Friday (July 5).
The programme is an initiative by the NLU, Tripura with a theme of “Let us work together for the children of Tripura.” It aims to empower students of this region as well as foster their interest in legal education.
The first session was led by Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, the Founding Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, who highlighted the importance of fundamental rights and duties as citizens of the country, and the significant contributions of lawyers to the society. He also discussed various legal career options available to students. The second session, conducted by 1st Year B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) students under the Centre for Policy and Review and Research, focused on POCSO awareness with the theme “Rise above and Report.” This segment aimed to educate children about their rights and the legal provisions under POCSO, empowering them to advocate for their own safety and report abuse without fear.
The programme concluded with an interactive question and answer session. Ms. Merelin Darlong, Assistant Professor of English and Coordinator of the School-Connect Programme and the Centre for Policy and Review and Research at NLU,Tripura, along with Reverend Father. Jilson Tom, Principal and Reverend Father. Agi Paul Vice- Principal of Holy Cross School Agartala and teachers also participated in the event.
