NLU, Tripura inaugurates 3 days international conference on Integrating Legal Frameworks and Management Strategies
National Law University, Tripura (NLUT), through its Centre for Environment, Law and Climate Change and Centre for Intellectual Property Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Law, University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata, inaugurated the 3-day International Conference on “Integrating Legal Frameworks and Management Strategies: Pathways to a Greener, Sustainable North-East India” on Thursday.
The inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Justice Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha, Judge, High Court of Tripura, who commended the University’s pioneering research-based approach and its contribution to capacity building for a sustainable future. The session began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor, NLUT. Best wishes were conveyed in absentia by Prof. Banani Chakrabarti, Chancellor of UEM. Prof. (Dr.) Satyajit Chakrabarti, Vice-Chancellor of the collaborative university, also addressed the audience virtually.
The distinguished keynote speaker Prof. S. Shantha Kumar, Director, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, underscored that the best way to ensure a sustainable future is to take strong and responsible initiatives today, while Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Ramesh, Former Vice-Chancellor of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, emphasized the integration of customary law into environmental jurisprudence to build a green-conscious nation. Around 103 papers will be presented in this conference. The highlight of the event was the signing and exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between National Law University, Tripura, and Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, alongside the release of the first ILFMS Conference Proceedings and the University Newsletter. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ripon Bhattacharjee Assistant Professor of Law and Convener of the Conference.
