The benefits of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach every section of society, and no one will be left behind in the process of development, Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.

Nath made the statement while addressing the 76th Social Empowerment Camp organised at South Taranagar Gram Panchayat in Mohanpur under the government of India’s Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) schemes.

Highlighting various initiatives undertaken by the Centre for the welfare of persons with disabilities, the Power Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has focused on their empowerment and self-reliance rather than sympathy. He also said that the term “Divyang” reflects their dignity and capabilities.

Nath said society as a whole has a collective responsibility to ensure social sensitivity towards persons with disabilities and help them become self-reliant. He stressed that greater social awareness is essential to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the actual beneficiaries.

The Minister also spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long political career. He said Modi, who came from an ordinary family, has completed nearly 25 years in public life, including his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Referring to various welfare schemes of the Central Government, Nath said initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan have brought significant changes to the lives of ordinary people.

Through the Jan Dhan Yojana, common people have been brought into the banking system and enabled to receive government assistance directly into their bank accounts, reducing their dependence on intermediaries, he said.

He also highlighted the Ujjwala Yojana, under which LPG connections have been provided to women and families, and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at promoting cleanliness and a healthier environment.

Nath further said the government has taken several steps to improve the standard of living of people by expanding access to housing and drinking water.

He said successive initiatives have been undertaken for public welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the government’s objective being to ensure that the benefits of development reach every section of society.

He emphasised the need to ensure that senior citizens and persons with disabilities are also fully included in the development process.
