Nomination submission for HC Bar Association begins, election on August 10th
The prestigious elections for the Tripura High Court Bar Association will be held on August 10th next and nomination for the 11-members executive committee of the Bar has begun on Monday.
Giving details, the Returning Officer (RO), Nepal Majumder said that nomination for the Bar Association elections to be received up to July 30 and scrutiny of the submitted nominations would be held on July 31 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till August 1st.
He said that altogether 217 voters including 15 senior advocates and 202 advocates are the valid voters for HC Bar Association and the polling for executive committee to begin from morning 9.30 AM to continue up to 1.30 PM on August 10th. The counting of polled votes would also be held on the same day from 2.30 PM.
Majumder added that elections for the Bar Association will be held for one post of president, vice-president, secretary, assistant secretary, treasurer and 6 more executive members for next two years.
While, on the first day of filing nomination papers, the candidates for the executive committee of Bar under “Save Constitution Forum”, comprising advocates affiliated with opposition CPI (M) and Congress, have filled their nomination papers.
Senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas filed his nomination paper for the post of President, while, another senior advocate Subrata Sarkar has also filed his nomination paper for the post of Secretary . The advocates under “Save Constitution Forum” have filed their nomination papers in all posts of the executive committee.
Meanwhile, the advocates’ panel from ruling BJP will file their nomination papers on July 30.
