One arrested for illegally selling CM-JAY-2023 free health cards, administration issues directions
Agartala city police has arrested a person for taking money for distribution of cards for Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) and police has also suspended a camp held at a club in Gangail road of Agartala, where few persons issuing beneficiary cards under the scheme .
Tripura police on Saturday said they have booked a person identified as one Babul Roy Chowdhury for allegedly illegally collecting personal details of the people to enrol them under the recently launched Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) which ensures free health insurance cover for each beneficiary and had also collected Rs. 250 from a beneficiary.
Police said that upon getting information they reached and suspended a camp in Agartala issuing beneficiary cards under the scheme held at a local club and arrested a man.
In a landmark step towards the health guarantee of everyone, on February 15, 2024 last Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha launched the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY), a health insurance scheme that will provide coverage of Rs 5 lakh to 4.15 lakh families in the state.
The launch took place at Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan, Agartala, where Dr Saha expressed that this initiative is a gift from the double-engine Government for the people of Tripura.
“People who have not been covered under Ayushman Bharat or any other government insurance scheme will benefit from the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. Healthcare is now accessible and affordable to all. CM-JAY is a landmark step towards ensuring the health guarantee for everyone, enabling beneficiaries to receive medical benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh," stated Dr Saha.
While, the state government through a press statement said that for issuing the CMJAY-2023 card, the administrative camps will be organized in all Panchayats and words of the municipal bodies and so far, the Health department does not authorize any agency for distribution of cards. If any person is involved with illegal distribution of cards, then the administration will take stringent legal steps against the accused person, said the chief executive officer of the Tripura Health Protection Society.
