One drug smuggler arrested with Heroin, cash amount in Narsingarh
9.80 grams of Heroin from four soap cases along with Rs 2,03,000 in cash seized
In a successful operation, police on Thursday arrested a drug smuggler and seized large quantities of Heroin in Narsingarh area , at the outskirts of Agartala.
Police sources said that acting on confidential information, the Airport police station achieved major success in an anti-drug operation. The raid was conducted in the Narsingarh New Palli area under the same police station.
During the operation, police recovered 49.80 grams of Heroin from four soap cases along with Rs 2,03,000 in cash, and arrested a drug peddler identified as Sanjit Debnath. A case has been registered against Sanjit Debnath under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The anti-narcotics operation was led by SDPO NCC Subrata Barman, along with Airport police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abhijit Mondal and a large police team.
Speaking about the operation, OC Abhijit Mondal said that based on secret intelligence, the police conducted the raid in New Palli and successfully arrested Sanjit Debnath with 49.80 grams of Heroin and Rs 2.03 lakh in cash. An investigation has been initiated under the NDPS Act to determine from where the accused procured the narcotics and where he intended to sell them.
He also stated that such anti-drug operations will continue in the coming days. Residents of the Narsingarh area have praised the police for this operation and arrest, noting that bringing drug traffickers under the law is increasingly challenging in the current times, and commended the police for taking firm action.
