One HS candidate killed in road mishap, two other injured
In a tragic road mishap, among three candidates of Higher Secondary examinations, one youth died on the spot , while two others suffered critical injuries , when their motorbike crushed with a speeding jeep collided face on at Palatana-Kakrabon highway under Gomati district on Saturday afternoon.
Police sources said that three higher secondary candidates identified as Samrat Dey (18), Animesh Debnath and Saikat Bhowmik were returning back towards their houses from Kakrabon area through the Palatana-Kakrabon highway after collecting some notes from another friend house.
When their motorbike reached the Palatana area, a speeding goods carrying jeep coming from the opposite direction collided face on with the motorbike.
As a result, the rider of the bike Samrat Dey and his two pillion riders Animesh Debnath and Saikat Bhowmik fell on the road with multiple injuries.
After hearing the heavy sound of crushing and hue and cry of injured youths, local people rushed to the spot and they informed firefighters. Within a few minutes, firefighters rushed to the spot and shifted all injured youths to Kakrabon hospital. Later, all injured were referred to Gomati district hospital, where a visiting doctor declared brought dead to Samrat Dey and admitted two other youths.
The death of Samrat Dey has cast a shadow of deep grief and mourning in the Kakrabon area and his parents have fainted after the sudden demise of their meritorious son.
Police sources said that they have registered a specific case and started investigation to identify the killer jeep and its accused driver.
Police added that the deceased youth and his two injured friends are the students of Bagma Samatal Para High School and candidate of Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) runs Higher Secondary examinations.
