One more Tripura govt teacher suspended for participating in election campaign
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has once again suspended one more school teacher for participating in political events and election campaigns, violating the model code of conduct (MCC), officials said on Thursday.
Earlier, the Commission had suspended five Tripura government employees including security personnel for participating in political events and election campaigns, violating the model code of conduct (MCC.
An election official said on Thursday night that one Post-Graduate Teacher (PGT), Swapan Kumar Das, posted at Kamini Kumar Singha Memorial HS School of Agartala, formerly known as Dhaleshwar School was suspended by the poll panel for violating MCC.
A press statement issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura said that based on the news, published in vernacular daily of Tripura, the Returning Officer (RO) of West Tripura parliamentary constituency initiated an investigation against teacher Swapan Kumar Das and based on the enquiry report, the Director of Education department has suspended Das on Thursday.
Another government teacher Partha Pratim Debroy, , Rasu Chowdhury, an Education Department staff and a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan Kishan Debbarma were suspended by their authorities for participating in election campaigns and political events.
The Education Department and the TSR seventh battalion commandant separately took the action following the direction of the Election Commission.
Earlier on April 4, the Commission had suspended Special Police Officer (SPO) Suman Hossain in the West Tripura Parliamentary constituency for participating in election campaigns, violating the MCC.
