Opposition INDIA Bloc congratulates voters of East Tripura to cast their votes defying all threats
After completion of polling, which by and large peaceful, barring some stray incidents of forceful obstruction to voters, polling agents were not allowed to enter into few polling stations, the opposition INDIA Bloc on Friday evening congratulated the brave voters to cast their votes defying all threats and intimidations.
Addressing a press conference at CPI(M) headquarters in Agartala on Friday evening , CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury accompanied by Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha and convener of Left Front , Narayan Kar said that the voting for East Tripura PC cannot be term as total free and fair voting, but the voters after seeing the polling West Tripura PC, where BJP has organized pre-planned all out rigging and made the election to Tripura West (Gen) PC and be-election to 7-Ramnagar Assembly constituency a complete farce, the voters of East Tripura PC shows their courage and largely voted by defying all threats of ruling party.
Claiming many irregularities by the poll administration, Chaudhury alleged that BJP has resorted to threatening to the voters in chunk on whom BJP has no trust by saying that not to come out from their houses to go for casting their votes, but unfortunately the poll panel did not take any action against ruling party.
But brushing all threats and odds with courage, the people have started coming out of their houses to go for casting their votes and also the selected workers of INDIA Bloc with courage have joined to perform their duty as polling agents, but miscreants owing allegiance with ruling party obstructed them and forcefully were not allow them to enter into polling stations to perform their duties as polling agents. But, in many cases, people defying all threats have cast their votes, said Chaudhury.
“This is for the first times in Tripura, villagers of two polling stations have totally boycotted the voting, which reflected anti-people governance of BJP,” said Chaudhury.
He also alleged few Polling Agents of the INDIA Bloc candidate have been driven out from the polling booths in the early hours of the voting and hoodlums have started preventing the identified voters from coming out of their houses, but unfortunately in many cases, the poll panel did not take any action despite complaints.
