Opposition leader Manik Sarkar appeals people to oust BJP govt to restore democracy
Opposition leader Manik Sakar appeals to the people of the state with strong determination to oust the ‘anti-people’ government from Tripura by taking the advantage of the present changing situation.
Addressing a large gathering of DYFI and TYF rally at Khowai on Friday, Sarkar no chief minister earlier had to win by-election by rigging and by preventing voters from casting their votes during Left front governments as there were situations that people can cast their votes freely and fearlessly” . He said that former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb won the 2018 assembly elections as there was LF government, but the present Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha won the by-elections by rigging.
Referring to the electoral malpractices during the 58 months rule of the BJP government, Sarkar said that all the elections held under this regime from Loksabha, Panchayat, Civic polls and even by-elections to four assembly constituencies had been rigged and they made all elections into farce.
The democracy and rule of law have disappeared from Tripura and there is no law of the rulers prevailing in the state, said Sarkar and added that it is now the people's struggle to restore democracy and rule of law and constitution in this state. He asserted that before the 2018 assembly election the BJP had misled people with false promises like jobs in every household, regularization of all contingent and DRW employees and others but only 20% of the 299 tall promises made by them have been fulfilled. He also attributed the worsening unemployment problem in the state and country to the wrong policies of the BJP government in Centre and state. The Prime Minister has visited Tripura four times during the past five years and even the Home Minister has paid visits to the state but neither of them had spoken about resolving the growing unemployment problem; where are jobs in every household and where are jobs by missed call, asked Sarkar. He added that in the names of jobs the BJP has only outsourced government services to dubious private companies in lieu of hefty commissions.
He also referred to the issue of the retrenched 10,323 teachers saying the BJP had promised in their ‘Vision Document’ that they would resolve the problem from a humanitarian point of view but nothing has been done. Both BJP government’s Chief Ministers of the state promised to solve their problem but they have not honoured their commitments; in fact when the unfortunate retrenched teachers tried to meet them they set police and paramilitary forces upon them and drove them away; what can be more inhuman and unfortunate” asked Sarkar. He called upon them to rise in protest and prepare themselves to get rid of the BJP from this state in the next assembly election to retain their democratic, legal and constitutional rights as well as to ensure development of the state in a transparent manner.
During the meeting in Khowai was also addressed by CPI (M) central committee member Aghore Debbarma, Khowai district committee secretary Ranjit Debbarma, MLA Nirmal Biswas and DYFI state president Palash Bhowmik. All the speakers called for democratic ouster of BJP from power in the next assembly election.
