Opposition Motha want probe over police action on TISF supporters, will raise issues of 10, 323 teachers, roman script
Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma strongly condemned the police action over the activists of Tipra-Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) on Wednesday last at Circuit House area of Agartala during their demonstration demanding Roman script for Kokborok language and stand on their demand for impartial and high level prove over the police ‘atrocities’.
Addressing a press conference at the office of the leader of opposition at the Assembly complex on Friday, Animesh Debbarma raised many questions over the functioning of the present government.
He said that Tipra-Motha strongly condemned police action and urged the government to accept their demand for Roman script for Kokborok language for the greater interest and future of Tripura students.
Highlighting the issues of retrenched 10, 323 teachers, Debbarma strongly batted for reinstatement of all sacked teachers by the government and promised that Tipra-Motha will take up the issue in the upcoming session of the state assembly.
He said that those struggling for restoration of jobs had not given him any document or paper. “I myself have collected all the documents and orders of courts from my sources and I am totally convinced that as per order of the High Court of Tripura on May 7, 2014 about 45 people lost their jobs, no order of the High Court or Supreme Court ever said that all 10,323 teachers lost their jobs,” said Animesh.
He said that even the reports filed to the state government’s expert committee by justice (retired) AB Paul, advocate Chandra Sekhar Sinh and Prasenjit Biswas had recommended the reinstatement to jobs of all the teachers as they had been terminated by an illegal ‘Omnibus’ order of education department on March 31, 2020.
He also strongly castigated the policies of the state government and Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) over omission of permanent resident of Tripura certificate (PRTC), which allows the candidates of other states to get government jobs in Tripura despite the number of unemployment rate rising in the state.
He also expressed his surprise over non-entitlement of opposition questions at the floor of Tripura assembly on delay of ADC’s Village Committee (VC) elections. “The state government intentionally deprived the people of the state from their legitimate development and stalled the election process for VCs,” said Animesh and asked the government why they are not conducting the VC polls.
Replying to a media question over the celebration of 9th years of governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and arrival of BJP’s national president J P Nadda at Agartala, Debbarma said that they are welcome JP Nadda, but the celebration of nine years of Modi government is only a gimmick to divert the attention of common people from their burning issues.
“In the last nine years of BJP government over 10 lakhs of Tripura people are suffering from drinking water crisis, all the village and hilyy roads are in most deplorable conditions for any kind of movements and number of unemployed youths now reached above 8 lakh in Tripura,” said Animesh. He also said that the formation of second BJP government in Tripura is ‘by chance’ not by popular mandate of people as BJP only got 39% of votes in the triangular fight of last assembly elections.
